We believe EVERYBODY can benefit from Pilates, Yoga, and Functional Training.?This type of exercise works.

Here is a brief Description Pilates and Functional Training and the many benefits:

Pilates
Pilates founded by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. With systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns, Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness endeavor itself, but also as an important adjunct to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation of all kinds.

Practiced faithfully, Pilates yields numerous benefits. Increased lung capacity and circulation through deep healthy breathing is a primary focus. Strength and flexibility, particularly of the abdomen and back muscles, and coordination, both muscular and mental, are key components in an effective Pilates program. Posture, Balance and Core Strength are all increased. Bone density and joint health improve. Many experience positive body awareness for the first time. The balance and control of the body Pilates teaches often spills over into other areas of one?s life.

Functional Training

Functional training is a classification of exercise which involves training the body for the activities performed in daily life.? The benefits of functional training lead to better muscular balance and joint stability, possibly impacting the number of injuries sustained and individual?s performance in a sport. The benefits may arise from the use of training that emphasizes the body?s natural ability to move in three anatomical planes of motion.

Types of equipment used for functional training include: Dumbbells, Medicine balls, Kettle bells, Stability balls, Resistance tubes, Rocker and wobble boards, Balance disks, Bosu balls.

Testimonials:

?For many years, I suffered from chronic back pain. I was on huge doses of ibuprofen, day in and day out. The spine specialist, a surgeon, told me I had normal degeneration of the spine, and that I should try pilates. I found Suzy?s classes soon afterward, and they have literally changed my life. Not only is my pain gone, but my abs are toned, my posture improved, and my flexibility increased. I feel like pilates was the missing link in my physical (and mental) health.? ? Annie

It is amazing how Pilates has increased my core strength and flexibility. Another added benefit is how my muscle recovery time between my workouts has improved as a result of the improved blood flow I have experienced with Pilates. I am able to train harder with less effort and recovery time between workouts ~ Robert J. ( Triathlete)
