Prince George, Prince William Christenings: Compare Royal Father and Son's Photos!

Like father, like son! Throwback Thursday comes a day early to mark the royal christening of 3-month-old baby Prince George-- with flashback pictures from his dad Prince William's special moment in 1982, where proud parents Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana looked on. Lady Di marked the occasion of William's christening in a floral pink and white printed dress and a pink hat.

Prince William, who squealed and cried when the baptismal water was poured over his head during his christening on Aug. 4, 1982, made Princess Diana blush while Prince Charles wiped his son's face. "He's a good speech-maker," Queen Elizabeth II later quipped in reference to Prince William's cries.

Meanwhile, Prince George was on his best behavior -- a source tells Us Weekly, Prince George was "as good as gold" -- during his christening on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge smiled as they arrived at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace with their son, resplendent and adorable in the royal grab, ahead of the 45-minute ceremony that marks the baby royal's entrance into the Church of England.

The future heir to the British throne was joined by his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton and flanked by family members including great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, grandparents Prince Charles, Carole and Michael Middleton, uncle Prince Harry, and aunt Pippa Middleton.

The royal christening robe, comprised of Honiton lace and lined with Spitalfields white silk satin, was originally made in 1841 for Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal. That same gown was worn for subsequent royal christenings up until 2008 when Queen Elizabeth II commissioned her personal dressmaker Angela Kelly to hand-design a replica in order to preserve the original robe-- which is now kept inside the Museum of London. The first Royal Family member to wear the replica gown was James, Viscount Severn at Windsor Castle on April 19, 2008.

The replica shares the same features as the original gown, including the bow, collar and of course, the lengthy, lace skirt.

The ceremony was held in St. James Chapel in part to honor Princess Diana, whose coffin was kept in the location until her funeral. "It's a special place for William," a source shared with Us. "Having the service there is his way of involving his mother, who he so wishes could be here for all of this."

The last royal baby to be christened at the location was Princess Beatrice in Dec. 1988. Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Prince William were meanwhile, christened at Buckingham Palace.
