BRER Real Estate Marketing Keep Real Estate Website Visitors ...

Ways to Keep Real Estate Website Visitors Coming Back

Here?s another way to keep real estate website visitors coming back.? A real estate news feed.

News Feeds on Real Estate Websites

Actually, a news feed serves two purposes.? First, it might give website visitors something else to look at while they?re on your website.? Will you have hoards of people returning multiple times to look at the real estate news?? Probably not.

But, the second purpose for a news feed has to do with SEO.? The search engines can read a news feed.? And, since it?s changing all the time and it?s real estate related, that can?t be bad.

Industry Related Consumer News

The best general real estate news feed for consumers I?ve found comes from RISMedia.? Here?s an example of the types of articles it contains.? Naturally, once you put it on your website or blog, it will be much better looking than it is in that raw feed format.

RISMedia also has a news feed widget that you can use.? Learn about the RISMedia widget here.? That page also lists the other news feeds that are available.? So, why not just use the widget instead of the RSS Feed?? Because the search engines can?t read the content of a widget, so it does nothing for you from an SEO standpoint.

Here?s one way to do something good for SEO and your visitors, too.? You could allocate one page to the Consumer News and Advice RSS Feed.? Then, on other targeted pages, you could display feeds for Home Buying 101, Homeowner?s Toolbox, Guide to Home Improvement, etc.

Use Local News and Real Estate News Feeds

An even better way to display news, if it?s available in your area is to use local real estate news feeds.? Some of the larger newspapers supply feeds for their real estate sections.? And, if you have people on your site who are relocating to your area, putting a feed on your website for top news stories in your area might well be of interest to people evaluating a place for relocation.

Another issue to consider is that you must take the good with the bad.? The RISMedia feed and your local real estate or news feed might contain news that isn?t encouraging about the real estate market or about your city.? If your town has a feed and is in the middle of a huge city government scandal, perhaps it would be wise to change the feed from the top news stories to, well, anything else!

In my humble opinion, displaying news on your site isn?t going to dramatically increase your lead generation, but the widgets do move.? Therefore, it is something for people to play with that might keep them on the site long enough to get interested in the main topic of the page!
